Meet Mya

Mya Rosario is an Edmonton-based composer, songwriter, vocalist, and pianist. She is classically trained in Canada’s Royal Conservatory of Music program, and holds a Bachelor of Music, majoring in Composition from MacEwan University. She performs both classical piano along with keyboards and synthesizers.
COMPOSITION: Mya Rosario composes in the action, fantasy, horror, mystery, and romance genres. Mya’s music focuses on expanding the small details, creating music out of one still moment, and venturing multiple perspectives. She enjoys the versatility of strings, along with making hybrid scores blending both acoustic and electronic instruments. Her biggest inspirations are Alan Silvestri, Blake Neely, John Powell, and Hans Zimmer. Mya draws from her background in classical, jazz, pop, and ensemble work and applies that knowledge to her scores. She is constantly looking for more media to compose for in the realms of film, TV, video-game, and dance.
SONGWRITING: Mya takes lyrical and instrumental inspiration from “NIKI” (Nicole Zenfaya), Ariana Grande, and JP Saxe. She enjoys writing about still moments and how much weight they hold, to complex emotions, and is constantly striving to expand her sound palette and ideas.
PERFORMANCE: Along with her solo music surrounding the pop and R&B genres, she is a keyboardist and background vocalist in two Edmonton Bands, Ryder J. & the Storm and Blood Pressure. She interned at the Citadel Theatre during its 2024 run of The Sound of Music and has been a substitute keyboardist for two party bands and choirs. She is currently Keyboard 2 in Mayfield Dinner Theatre’s 2026 run of The Marvelous Wonderettes.
Along with her musical side, she also enjoys dancing heels and hip hop and is determined to try other forms of dance such as contemporary.
